Kim Neely, Owner/ L.O., has been a licensed optician since 1980. His career started as an apprentice for Harvey & Lewis in Hartford, CT. Kim’s father, George Neely, L.O., introduced him into the profession December of 1975, and father and son worked together at Harvey & Lewis for 6 years. In 1981, Kim opened Opti-Style, an idependent retail optical shop in Putnam, CT. In 1986, he was recruited to run IC Optics, then owned by Dr. Curran, and Kim’s quality craftsmanship and product knowledge made IC Optic’s business flourish. After a few years of managing IC Optics, Kim purchased the business, and he has continued to provide top-quality eyewear for all of his clients. When Kim is not in the office, he spends his extra time enjoying the outdoors or watching his 5 grandsons play sports. Before grandkids, Kim donated his time coaching and being a NECONN soccer registrar for several years. He was also a prior Lions Club member and served as a chairperson for their annual volleyball tournament. He is a long-time resident of Woodstock, CT.
Erica O’Brien, Operations Manager/L.O., has been a licensed optician since 2005. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Connecticut in December of 2000. Erica was the Assistant Director of Huntington Learning Center in Framingham, MA after receiving her degree, but came to work for her father in September of 2001 and pursue a Master’s Degree in Special Education. After working at IC Optics for a short time, Erica realized she had a passion for optics and switched career paths. She received her ABO and NCLE certification in 2004 and her optician’s license in 2005. She is now licensed in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. Outside of her career, Erica enjoys spending time with her family and being actively involved in the Quiet Corner community. She is an active member of many local organizations and committees which includes Putnam Business Association and NECONN soccer. Erica, her husband, Patrick, and their three sons, Riley, Brady and Cooper, reside in Woodstock, CT.
Tricia Turbert, L.O., has worked at IC Optics since 2013, and she became a licensed optician in 2015. Prior to being an Optician, Tricia worked at a child care center in Woodstock, CT for 10 years. Erica introduced her to the world of optics when Tricia expressed an interest in a career change. In 2013, she began her career as an optical apprentice at IC Optics while she studied opticianry at Middlesex Community College. This developed Tricia into the optician she is today by giving her the exposure to the math and science of optics. While in school, she received her ABO and NCLE certification in 2014. Tricia lives in Thompson, CT with her family. Tricia spends her time outside of IC Optics staying busy with her daughter, Adelynn.
